OVERVIEW
A carefully considered restoration and civil works package was undertaken to upgrade the existing
Heritage boundary fencing at Ryde. The site which is currently owned by Calvary Health Care was first established in 1889 when Thomas
Dalton acquired the land and constructed a new 2 storey convent on the property. Subsequent building works included the addition of
the grand entrance gates and detailed brickwork boundary walls in the early 20th century.
A prolonged period of time had resulted in the deterioration of the boundary structure which Vernon was tasks with restoring back to
its former glory. Careful salvage works were undertaken to deconstruct parts of the original walls followed by the construction of
new pier and beam foundations to support the reconstruction of fencing to replicate the original works commissioned by Thomas Dalton
over 100 years ago. Carefully selected sandstone materials was coordinated with Heritage 21 to match the existing materials where the
existing materials had deteriorated beyond repair. A testament to the team comprising of the client, Heritage 21, Acor and the Vernon
Site team to achieve exceptional outcomes on a very constrained site.
