Macarthur Anglican Junior School

Universities and Schools

OVERVIEW

Designed by the team at Mayoh Architects, Vernon Constructions were engaged to undertake the renovation and expansion of the existing teaching spaces at the Macarthur Anglican School. Two existing buildings within the school grounds were renovated with significant extensions to revitalise and improve the teaching and learning spaces. The new additions included shared practical activity spaces, six new General Purpose Learning Areas, withdrawal spaces, staff rooms and external works.

These new spaces cater for flexible 21st century teaching with direct connections between the classrooms and the open multi-purpose areas. Biophilic design principles were at the heart of the design with the use of natural materials, cross ventilation and abundant natural light. Large window box seats overlooking the landscape provide a playful touch and a connection to the outdoors.
